¡Nebrijanos! ¡Au! ¡Au! ¡Au!

We love…we love arriving at an Instituto like Antonio de Nebrija in Móstoles with Joe Arlauckas and seeing that they have prepared and AM-A-ZING Pep Rally, with the playground teeming with kids devoted to their team, their friends, their school…

 Well, that’s what we saw during a great morning of basketball, of fun, of celebration, and of the “Nebrijano Spirit.”  A morning that began with the spectacular entrance of Nebrija’s Girls, who gave a fantastic performance full of rhythm and liveliness, leaving the spectators with open mouths… and ready to hear and applaud the words of Sir Paco, a PE legend at the school, the words of Elena Ayala-Hurtado, Fulbright grantee whose American origin was visible in the organization of the Pep Rally, and, of course, the words of Joe Arlauckas, always ready to have a great time.

 The fun had only just begun, and the entrance of Búbu, an awesome bear with a Woody Allen air, was incredible, as he was able to convince many of the spectators to dance to the rhythm of Gangnam style. The cheerleader’s second number was also awesome; they delighted us all again with a perfect choreography of rhythm and coordination! A very good job!

 But it was basketball’s turn, and the moment arrived for the players to show what they are capable of...and they are capable of a lot. Exuding enthusiasm with every move, with Joe teaching them some exercises, they made it clear that they will give it their all, that they know how to make a basket, how to defend, how to throw….and even how to hold their own during one-on-one play against people of Joe’s  importance….

 A few motivational words from the director, Agustín Vaquero, were followed by the Official Photo, and the shout ¡NEBRIJANOS, AU, AU, AU!, closed out a great Pep Rally.

 It’s clear that these kids play to win…

 --Nos encanta…Nos encanta llegar con Joe Arlauckas a un Instituto como el Antonio de Nebrija de Móstoles y que nos tengan montado un IM-PRE-SIO-NAN-TE Pep –Rally, con todo el patio lleno de chavales volcados con su equipo, con sus amigos, con su instituto…

Pues eso fue lo que vivimos en una gran mañana de baloncesto, de diversión, de fiesta y de “Espíritu Nebrijano”. Una mañana que empezó con la salida espectacular de las “Nebrija´s Girls” que dieron un genial espectáculo de ritmo y simpatía, dejando al público con la boca abierta…y dispuesto a oír  y aplaudir  las palabras de Don Paco, una leyenda en la educación física del instituto, las de Elena Ayala, becaria Full Bright cuya procedencia americana se notó en la organización del Pep Rally y por supuesto, las de un Joe Arlauckas dispuesto a pasárselo en grande.

Porque la diversión no había hecho más que empezar, y la salida a escena de Búbu, un genial oso con un aire a Woody Allen capaz de liarla y hacer que todo el patio baile al ritmo de Gagnam Style fue una pasada, como la segunda actuación de las animadoras, que nos volvieron a deleitar con un número perfecto de ritmo y coordinación ¡Muy bien estas chicas!

Pero era el turno del baloncesto, y  llegaba el momento de que esto jugadores demostrasen de lo que son capaces…

Y son capaces de mucho. Derrochando entusiasmo en cada jugada, con Joe  marcando los ejercicios nos dejaron claro  que van a ir a por todas, que saben entrar a canasta, defender, tirar…e incluso enfrentarse en uno contra uno ante tipos de la envergadura de Joe…
